As much as I LOVE the World Cup, it just got better!! The Special Olympics organization has announced teaming with the Coca-Cola Co. and FIFA to present the first ever Unity Cup.  Special Olympics athletes will play alongside soccer legends and other celebrities in friendly competition.  The games will be held in Cape Town, South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup Games!

The Unity Cup will be hosted in Green Point Stadium which is one of the several World Cup facilities.  The game will be played on the same field as the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup game and only hours before!  Some participants will include South African president Jacob Zuma, former South African national team captain Lucas Radebe, South Africa’s former national women’s team captain Desiree Ellis, and Clarence Seedorf of A.C. Milan.

The Unity Cup is being held in support of the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.  This is the first soccer game of its kind and is a celebration of the progress of recognition and well-being of the athletes and population with these disabilities.  The Special Olympics is so proud to have a world audience for these athletes and so am I!

I am so proud and excited for this game. While I’ve been watching the World Cup feverishly so far (bracket in mind), I cannot wait for the opportunity to watch this inaugural event. Please join me in watching and let me know what you think!

Here is another blog that I check in on almost every single day.

Perez Hilton

This is my guilty pleasure! This blog is full of celebrity scandal, dirt and rumors. Perez Hilton, as the King of Celebrity Gossip, relishes in this vulgar environment of Hollywood Glamour gone bad! Hilton pushes the line when it comes to the awe-factor because many of his posts are totally inappropriate and outlandish. Even though I know much of the information on this site it totally bogus, I still enjoy it.

Perez’s following keeps multiplying throughout the years. When he began blogging a few years ago, he was not known at all. To me, this goes to show that the average person can become and do whatever they want. Perez’s fame has grown exponentially throughout the years because of his signature ability to break all the rules. Perez Hilton is just about as dirty as they come, and that’s why we all love him!

Way to go, Perez!

Number 1

Blogging is an easy and fun outlet for almost anyone to express opinions, share ideas or just blab on the web! I began blogging for class, here at Georia Southern University, about six monthes ago. At first blogging seemed to be a waste of time and not much fun at all, but now I appreciate the act of sharing ideas via the web. It is very easy and blogging can be as serious or goofy as you choose!

Since I have started blogging, I have alo begun to read other’s blogs. Initially it seemed kind of crazy to be reading someone else’s work just for the fun of it. But now, it is easy to see that you do not need to be rich and famous to have a voice. There are many many people who have stories and ideas that are incredible and deserve attention. I have found a couple of pages that are my “go-to” when I’m looking for some reading.

1.) Keeping Up With The Burnams

I went to highschool with Devis Burnam and though we have never been really good friends, I have steadily kept up with her admirable and courageous life as a new wife and mother through this blog. She is an excellent writer- she’s very funny and captivating. Devis also writes very emotionally. Although I haven’t seen this girl for several years, I feel as though we are having a conversation together most every time I read her blog. I am rooting for you, Devis!
